Happy Friday Everyone!
Ever since day light savings took away one hour of sleep, it has been a struggle to get out of bed one hour earlier than usual. Today I thought it would be helpful to share my three tips on how to get better sleep at night.
I don’t know about you, but when 7-8pm rolls around, my stomach begins to growl. Instead of eating another large, heavy dinner meal so late in the evening, I reach for a healthy snack like an orange to help fill the hunger. The substitution for a healthy snack helps give my body what it needs while staying away from greasy food that may make it harder to fall asleep due to the longer digestion process your body is undergoing — Also your body won’t feel so sluggish when waking up the next morning.
Unplug from Electronics
Any bright light, even in small quantities from your laptop or smartphone can be a sleep stealer. I know it’s hard to put down your phone when you are watching a Youtube video or scrolling through Instagram, but trust me unplugging is so good for the mind, body, and soul. Usually, one hour before bed I turn off all my screens and dim my bedroom light. During this downtime, I’m usually doing non-electronic activities, such as, writing down tomorrow’s To-Do list, thinking of upcoming blog post ideas, or enjoying a nice face mask.
We all know the famous legend — if you hang a dream catcher above your bed, it will catch the bad dreams in the web while letting the good dreams through the hole in the middle. And the next morning the sun’s rays will hit the dream catcher causing all of the bad dreams to evaporate.
I’m a huge believer of symbolic items — something about these particular items help put my mind at ease, and also help create a more relaxing, peaceful environment. This beautiful dream catcher was handcrafted by Amanda Vang, owner of Peyton and Grace Co. I love the intricate details of each ribbon and how she incorporated the Hmong culture — it really adds a special touch to it. This dream catcher also comes in a pink color. Definitely go check out her online shop for the cutest lifestyle must haves and baby/toddler accessories!
